Public Health England, in consultation with NHS Choices, has developed a new national screening information leaflet for transgender and non-binary individuals, NHS population screening: information for transgender people.

Inequalities may exist for people who are transgender or non-binary (any gender that is not exclusively male or female) because they do not know which screening programmes they are eligible for or they are not invited for screening because of the gender they are registered as with their GP.

The leaflet, based on an original work undertaken by Public Health Wales’ Screening Division in 2014, explains who is invited for breast screening, bowel cancer screening, cervical screening, and abdominal aortic aneurysm screening. Important information about the four screening processes and how to access additional support and advice are detailed.
